Similar to many other regions in the Province, Halton is experiencing a shortage of school bus drivers which is having an impact on school bus operations. Halton bus operators and HSTS are working diligently to minimize the impact on students and families and recruitment efforts by the bus operators are ongoing. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work together with our Halton bus operators to serve our students.
Are you a stay at home parent, retiree, or have a flexible home-based business? If you enjoy working with children, this could be the perfect, secure, part-time job for you! Please be advised HSTS commences review and processing of courtesy seat applications as of November 29, 2021.
Halton Student Transportation Services (HSTS) is happy to inform you that courtesy bus seats will now be offered at a reduced capacity, beginning January 3, 2022. The HSTS Courtesy Seat Application Form will be open for submissions until 5:00 pm on Friday, November 26, 2021.
We endeavor to complete the courtesy seat allocation process as soon as possible and HSTS will notify parents/guardians of the status of their application no later than December 31st, 2021.
If you would like to check on the status of your application you can login here using your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN). If your courtesy seat (CS) application has been reviewed there will be a note as to the outcome. If there is no note, we are still processing your application.
Transportation will commence on January 3, 2022.
We appreciate your patience as we work through this process.
Great News! In order to improve communications for the schools and families we service, we have launched the BusPlanner Delays App. Parents/guardians can download the BusPlanner Delays app to their mobile device and sign up to receive instant notifications regarding your child’s bus route. Please log into the parent portal in order to obtain the current run information for your child’s AM and PM bus.
Download this FREE app (via Google Play or the App Store) and receive: • Delay & cancellation notices for your child’s routes and runs • General notices for snow days and inclement weather
Access student transportation schedules now through our online Parent Portal.
Once you have an account, you will need to add your student using their 9-digit Ontario Education Number.
Parent Portal instructions and help documents can be found here.
If your child has not been assigned an OEN (ie. Kindergarten student) and is eligible for transportation, you will receive a phone call between August 23 – 31 to provide you with the transportation schedule.
The decision to cancel transportation services and/or close schools due to inclement weather, is communicated to parents beginning at 6:30 a.m. primarily through the media. Review our ‘How do I Stay Informed’ page for media outlets and supplementary communication methods.
